Job Information
The Paralegal Team Lead, Corporate Registries, reports to the Manager, Corporate Registries & Securities in Yellowknife and supervises 2 Paralegals, and 1 Paralegal Assistant. In this role you are responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Corporate Registry. The position carries a statutory appointment as Deputy Registrar under applicable legislation.
You will serve as a representative of the Registrar and must maintain the confidence and integrity of the office. This role requires advanced expertise in corporate and commercial legal matters, combined with the ability to mentor staff, ensure statutory compliance, and manage complex legal submissions.
You will be frequently required to act independently in the absence of legal supervision, exercising judgment and decision-making authority typically associated with experienced Legal Counsel. Due to the significant financial and commercial implications of registry activities, work is carried out within established precedents and under the direction of the Registrar.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the daily operations of the Corporate Registry.
- Review, assess, and approve complex submissions to ensure compliance with statutory and common law requirements.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to Paralegal staff.
- Act as the senior decision-maker when no supervising lawyer is present, making independent registration determinations.
- Administer and enforce statutory and registry requirements on behalf of the Registrar.
- Exercise delegated authority as assigned by the Registrar.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of legal documentation and filings.
- Verify payments, reconcile financial records, and maintain operational performance metrics.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of corporate and commercial legal frameworks relevant to registry operations.
- Proficiency with electronic registration and search systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedural standards.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail in reviewing legal documents.
- Financial aptitude for payment reconciliation and maintaining statistical records.
Key Qualifications:
- A paralegal diploma and 3 years of experience including 1 year in a supervisory role.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $54.44 per hour to $65.03 per hour (approximately $106,158 - $126,809) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
