Dehcho means "big river" - the Dene name for the Mackenzie River. In the Dehcho region, where the Northwest Territories borders British Columbia and the Yukon, you'll find some of the grandest displays of the North's natural beauty.

Dehcho Divisional Education Council invites applications for the 2025-2026 school year. The DDEC requires substitute teachers (casual) for JK-K through grade 12. School programs support language and cultural heritage of the students in an inclusive environment that respects the diverse styles and needs of all learners
                                                                                  
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• Previous experience working with children (e.g., camp counselor, daycare assistant, tutor) is highly valued.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and often demanding team setting. 
• Should have experience working in a cross-cultural environment. 
• Ability to speak or communicate in South Slavey is an asset
• Ability to work with students, in multi-level situations is desirable
• Successful candidates must produce an ORIGINAL, acceptable, recent (less than six months old) Criminal Record Check which must include Vulnerable Sector Check.

2. Applicants must clearly identify their eligibility in order to receive priority consideration under the Indigenous Employment Policy.
3. At the interview stage, candidates will be asked to submit three references, including current and past supervisors.
4. Applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC) as well as a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from the RCMP if they are contacted for an interview.
