Job Information
The Strategic Affairs and Official Languages Coordinator provides advice to the Deputy Head, senior management team on matters related to the delivery, promotion and support of the French language, provides advice on a broad range of French language program and service issues and supports the Department of Health and Social Services(DHSS) in preparation of Session materials and coordinating Minister and Deputy Minister participation on federal, provincial and territorial forums.
The coordinator coordinates, supports, monitors, and ensures evaluation of the DHSS's French language services and communications, guides and supports health and social services authorities in their delivery of French language services and communications. The position is also responsible for ensuring that the official languages services (OLS) meet the needs of the system and public and has a key role in the planning, development, coordination and evaluation of programs and services relating to OLS. This position is also responsible for the management and coordination of the annual budget.
The incumbent must be bilingual with the ability to speak, read and write in English and in French.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the DHSS's French Language Services Plans (FLSP) and support the development of the authorities' FLSPs.
- Monitor, report on and advise on the DHSS's implementation of the Official Languages Act and guidelines.
- Participate in and support interdepartmental French services and communications initiatives.
- Establish and support links with stakeholders in the GNWT's French language services and communications.
- Administer and monitor the budget and related documents for the DHSS Official Languages.
- Support the work of the Strategic Affairs unit and participate on special projects.
- Assist the DHSS to obtain suitable human resources and other supports to implement the FLSP.
Key Qualifications:
- A degree in political science or public administration and three (3) years of experience in a relevant field.
- Equivalencies can include:
- A college diploma in political science or public administration and five (5) years of experience.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $59.62 per hour to $71.22 per hour (approximately $116,259 - $138,879.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
