Job Summary
Department Information
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
Job Information
As a Senior Information Management Analyst, you will help ensure government information is organized, accessible, and managed in accordance with legislation and best practices. You will provide expert advice to departments, support records management systems, and lead the development of classification structures and tools that guide how information is stored, used, and disposed of.
Key Responsibilities
- Improves information management practices by developing policies, standards, and classification systems, monitoring legislative trends, and delivering training and guidance across the Government of the Northwest Territories.
- Provides expert advice and technical support to departments on records management, including electronic systems, retention, storage, and emerging technologies.
- Maintains the Government of the Northwest Territories Administrative Records Classification Schedule (ARCS).
- Ensures efficient, secure, and compliant operation of records centers through audits, monitoring storage capacity and activities, and establishing standards and procedures.
- Provides training and guidance to staff while supporting the effective storage, protection, and management of records across facilities.
- Reviews, authorizes and processes Government of the Northwest Territories records dispositions and record transfers.
Key Qualifications
- A relevant diploma with 2 years of experience.
- Relevant education could include, but is not limited to, Records Management, Library/Information Technology, Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Archival Studies, or related Social Sciences/Communications with an Information Management focus.
- Experience must be in a related field such as information or records management, including demonstrated experience with classification systems, electronic document and records management systems, interpreting legislation and policies, and providing training or advisory services.
Equivalencies
- A related certificate (i.e. certificates from ARMA or AIIM international) with 3 years of relevant experience in information or records management.
- A high school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience in information or records management.
- Examples of relevant experience could include managing recorded information, applying classification systems, and supporting records life cycle processes using electronic systems.
- All other equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $54.44 per hour to $65.03 per hour (approximately $106,158 - $126,809) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
