Job Information

The Cultural Lead, Child and Family Services is responsible for the delivery of culturally relevant Child and Family Services programs in the Tlicho region of the Northwest Territories (NWT). The incumbent provides consultation to staff and community members, coordinates and manages direct service delivery within the context of appropriate legislation, policies and standards. The incumbent promotes an understanding and appreciation of the Tlicho culture, language and way of life, through service delivery, community engagement, and collaboration with local Indigenous Government and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
-    Provide culturally grounded leadership to support prevention, early intervention, and well-being of children, youth, and families.
-    Ensure case files meet standards related to Indigenous content.
-    Deliver CFS services using a trauma-informed, culturally respectful approach aligned with legislation and standards.
-    Support assessments, case planning, placements, and court processes with cultural knowledge and community context.
-    Collaborate with families, communities, and Indigenous partners to develop culturally appropriate supports and services.
-    Provide voluntary, crisis, and family violence support, including referrals and culturally relevant interventions.
-    Support foster care and adoption by promoting cultural identity, caregiver capacity, and community connections.
-    Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and participate in on-call and community-based service delivery as needed.
-    Contribute to a safe, respectful, and culturally safe workplace, adhering to health and safety requirements.
 

Key Qualifications:
 -  A Bachelor of Social Work Degree AND
 - One (1) year of experience in the Child and Family Services environment AND 
 - lived experience providing support to the community and in their culture, as well as a lifestyle founded in cultural understanding and practices.


Additional Requirements:
-  Class 5 Drivers License.
-  Must be able to obtain a Child Protection Statutory Appointment within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain it.

More Information

Labour Market Supplement

The successful incumbent will receive a $12,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $12,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months.   This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $54.44 per hour to $65.03per hour (approximately $106,158 - $126,809.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,536.
