Job Information

Aurora College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Head, General Studies to provide academic leadership and administrative oversight for the General Studies program. This role ensures students receive high-quality programming that supports university transfer pathways and prepares learners for further post-secondary education and career success. 

As a member of the academic leadership team, you will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to maintain program excellence, foster innovation, and support student achievement across Aurora College campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the General Studies program across Aurora College. 
  • Ensure consistent academic standards, curriculum quality, and program delivery college wide. 
  • Lead curriculum development, program review, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Support student success through academic advising, student engagement, and timely resolution of student concerns. 
  • Supervise, mentor, and support instructional faculty. 
  • Participate in faculty recruitment, orientation, performance management, and professional development activities. 
  • Oversee program planning, budgeting, resource allocation, scheduling, and reporting. 
  • Coordinate admissions processes in collaboration with the Registrar and other College departments. 
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, Indigenous organizations, government departments, and community stakeholders. 
  • Support strategic planning and identify opportunities for program growth and enhancement. 
  • Teach and deliver assigned courses as required. 
  • Develop and revise course outlines, learning materials, assessments, and instructional resources. Ensure curriculum remains current, relevant, and aligned with professional and educational standards. 
  • Promote Aurora College and the General Studies program through outreach, recruitment, and public relations activities.
  • Participate in committees, institutional initiatives, and community partnerships that support student learning and program success. 

     

Key Qualifications required:
A Masters Degree in Adult Education or related education; and four (4) years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level; and one (1) year of relevant supervisory experience. Two (2) years of experience working in education of Indigenous students in northern communities, and one (1) year of experience in program/curriculum development and research will also be included in the five (5) years of experience indicated above.

The salary range for this position is from $62.38 per hour to $74.51per hour (approximately $121,641 - $145,294.5.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,100.
