Job Information
The South Slave Divisional Education Council is looking for positive and committed educators capable and willing to embrace the implementation of three key priorities/initiatives in the South Slave schools and classrooms: literacy, numeracy and social responsibility.
This position is located at Diamond Jenness Secondary School, Hay River, NT -
Term Teacher - High School for the 2026/27 school year (August 24, 2026 - June 25, 2027)
In addition to eligibility for NWT Teacher Certification, other requirements are specific to the position ¿ Specilization: Grade 8 Mathematics, Science, PE, ADST/Foods

Indigenous Employment Policy

- Priority 1: Teachers who have received official lay-off notice;

- Priority 3: Stage Two Priority (S2P) - Indigenous people who are recognized members and descendent of a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit people indigenous to areas of Canada, outside of the present boundaries of the Northwest Territories.;
- Priority 4: Indeterminate Teachers eligible for Transfer or Promotion and not included in Priorities 2 & 3;
- Priority 5: Term teachers not included in Priorities 2 & 3;
- Priority 6: NWT Resident Teachers not employed by the GNWT or included in Priorities 2 & 3;
- Priority 7: Teachers who are not residents of the NWT and who are not included in Priorities.

Salary Information
Dependent on qualifications and ranges from $95, 232 to $153,745per annum, plus a very attractive benefits package including a Northern Allowance of approx $4,538 per annum, relocation, and a school work year.
