The Tlicho Community Services Agency (TCSA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Foster Care and Adoption Social Worker to join our Child and Family Services team in Behchoko. This rewarding role provides leadership in foster care and adoption services while supporting children, youth, families, foster parents, and communities throughout the Tilcho region.
Working within a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and anti-racist framework, you will help ensure children and youth access safe, nurturing placements while supporting the recruitment, training, and development of foster and adoptive families.
Reporting to the Regional Supervisor, Child and Family Services, you will:
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and consultation to Community Social Service Workers and other child and family services staff.
- Recruit, assess, orient, train, and support foster parents and placement resources.
- Conduct foster home reviews and adoption home studies.
- Coordinate foster care placements and support children in care.
- Promote and support adoption services, including Indigenous Custom Adoption, private, departmental, step-parent, and inter-provincial adoptions.
- Develop community awareness initiatives and foster parent recruitment campaigns.
- Maintain program statistics, reports, and service evaluations.
- Participate in case planning, investigations, court proceedings, and case management activities when required.
- Collaborate with government departments, community agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work AND
- One (1) year of Human Services or Community, Child and/or Family Services experience.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain:
- NWT Child Protection Appointment
- NWT Adoption Worker Appointment
Indigenous language skills are considered an asset.

Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $12,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $12,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $52.00 per hour to $62.09 per hour (approximately $101,400. - $121,076.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,536.
