Rabies is a serious disease that affects the brain and nervous system, and infection usually results in death. In the Northwest Territories, Arctic foxes can be infected with the disease, and can transfer it to dogs, cats and people through saliva (by biting or scratching).

Several foxes and dogs have recently tested positive for the disease in Tuktoyaktuk.

Help protect your family, your pets, your community and yourself by getting your dogs vaccinated for rabies.
