Deer Hunting Regulations

NWT Wildlife Act regulations have been amended to allow for increased harvest opportunities for white-tailed and mule deer starting in the 2020/2021 hunting season. Previously, only Aboriginal harvesters in their traditional use area could hunt deer without restrictions.

Now General Hunting Licence (GHL) holders and Resident Hunting Licence holders can hunt white-tailed and mule deer within the territory. Licence holders need a tag, must report their harvest, and provide a sample of the deer to ENR.
