Overview
Community Wildfire Resilience Contributions provide investments and build partnerships across the whole-of-society to advance FireSmart projects across the NWT.
Investments support organizations in delivering on projects which will address the seven FireSmart disciplines in the NWT.

Funding Available
- The maximum funding available to a single applicant is $300,000 in each fiscal year.
- Visit the funding and proposal guidelines for detailed information about eligible expenditures.
Deadline
- The program is open for proposals year-round. Funding will be distributed until fully-subscribed annually.
- The initiative is currently funded through the end of the 2027/2028 fiscal year.
Eligibility
The program is open to project proposals based both within established community boundaries and on lands outside community boundaries.
The following organizations are able to apply:
- Community governments
- Indigenous governments
- Indigenous organizations
- Non-Governmental Organizations
- Territorial and federal government and agencies
- Neighbourhood associations with sponsorship and/or partnership from any of the above organization(s).
- In these scenarios, the recipient of funds must be an organization established under the laws of the NWT, though the neighbourhood association may be an important partner.

Simplified application to access FireSmart training
A simplified application is available for organizations seeking training to deliver the FireSmart Advanced Home Assessment Program or FireSmart Neighbourhood Recognition Program locally.

To request training:
- Complete the Simplified Application Form
- Submit the application form to FireSmart_Intellifeu@gov.nt.ca
- A member of the FireSmart team will reach out to you to organize training for your staff.
General application
For new initiatives, a more detailed proposal is required for assessment.
- Complete the General Application Form.
- Submit the application form to FireSmart_Intellifeu@gov.nt.ca
- Your proposal will be assessed. Your contact may be reached for additional information or clarity on the application.
- If successful, arrangements will be made to fund your project.
