NWT delegation promotes MVFL in Europe

YELLOWKNIFE (June 8, 2015) – A delegation from the Northwest Territories will travel to Europe from June 7-12, 2015 to promote the Mackenzie Valley Fibre Link (MVFL) to potential international clients and customers. The delegation includes Premier Bob McLeod, Minister of Finance J. Michael Miltenberger, Minister Robert C. Mcleod, MLA Robert Hawkins, Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Development and Infrastructure and officials from the federal government and Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).

YELLOWKNIFE (February 19 2015) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Department of Lands is responding to the 17th Legislative Assembly’s decentralization priority by offering meaningful opportunities for capacity-building jobs in regional centers and communities.

Robert C. McLeod: Training and Development Program for Level One Resource Management

Mr. Speaker, the Department of Lands’ inspection services are essential for responsible and sustainable development in the NWT. Their success hinges on building the capacity of the inspections program through training and professional development planning. Inspections services help companies comply with relevant legislation, and meet the specific terms and conditions set out in authorizations issued by the Department and NWT Land and Water Boards.

Robert C. McLeod: Progress Statement – Year one milestones and accomplishments in the Department of Lands

Mr. Speaker, the Department of Lands has made significant progress since taking over the management of public land in the Northwest Territories as part of Devolution last April.

Much of the Department’s progress to date has been due to the hard work of its employees. While about 75 percent of our positions were filled by existing federal and GNWT staff when Devolution came into effect, the remainder of the Department’s positions had to be staffed.

NWT trade mission promotes tourism in China and Japan

TOKYO (January 21, 2015) – Premier Bob McLeod and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment  (ITI) David Ramsay are concluding their trade and investment mission to China and Japan this week with a focus on tourism. On January 20, they hosted a “Rare in Nature” reception and fashion show at the Canadian embassy in Tokyo, showcasing the NWT’s magnificent aurora and highly prized luxury resources.

GNWT approves Ekati surety bond

YELLOWKNIFE (November 6, 2014) – Minister of Lands Robert C. McLeod announced today that the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has approved Dominion Diamond Ekati Corporation’s surety bond as security for approximately $253 million under its Ekati water licence. The surety bond will account for all security currently required under the water licence.
