Progress Towards an Environment that will Sustain Present and Future Generations

August 24, 2011 - Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Michael Miltenberger details the advances the GNWT has made towards building an environment that will sustain present and future generations.

Mr. Speaker, as we move into the last session of the 16th Legislative Assembly, I would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the significant progress this legislature has made toward achieving its goal of “an environment that will sustain present and future generations”.

Minister of MACA Statement on Community Emergency Preparedness

August 19, 2011 - The Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs Robert McLeod congratulates the communities of Fort Smith and Déline for performing admirably during their emergency situations this past year. The minister emphasizes how important it is to have trained people in the communities to deal with these types of emergency situations: knowing what to do will save lives.

Mr. Speaker, today I would like to speak about the importance of community emergency training and preparedness.

Mr. Speaker, in July 2009, the Northern Leaders’ Forum was created as a means for all leaders in the NWT to work collectively to advance the interests of our Territory and its residents.

Minister of MACA Congratulates Western Canada Games Participants

August 18, 2011 - The Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs congratulates the excellent job done by the NWT's athletes and coaches at the 2011 Western Canada Games held in Kamloops BC.

Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure today to provide Members of the Legislative Assembly with an update on the Northwest Territories’ Team that attended the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games that were hosted by the City of Kamloops, British Columbia, from August 5th to August 14th.

Minister of ITI Officially Welcomes Members of PNWER

August 17, 2011 - Minister of Indutry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod officially welcomes members from the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) to the Legislative Assembly. Minister McLeod will host and chair the 2011 PNWER Capital Visit and Arctic Caucus in Yellowknife. MLA for Kam Lake and Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Development and Infrastructure David Ramsay will also be attending.
