The Department of Education, Culture and Employment’s (ECE) regional service centre hours will change starting Monday, September 14, 2026. Offices will be open to the public Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The change builds on adjusted hours introduced at ECE’s North Slave Regional Service Centre in Yellowknife and Community Service Centre in Behchokǫ̀ on December 1, 2025. At that time, public hours were shortened from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., giving staff dedicated time to review applications, process client requests and complete other administrative work. The change supported more efficient processing while maintaining residents’ access to programs and services during public hours.

Based on the experience at these two service centres, ECE will maintain the adjusted hours in Yellowknife and Behchokǫ̀ and expand them to regional service centres across the Northwest Territories. The change will provide staff with dedicated time to process applications and client requests while maintaining consistent public access to programs and services. Similar measures have been introduced by other departments within the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).
