Francophone Community Satisfaction Survey Results Released

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — December 20, 2022

Results from the third annual Francophone Community Satisfaction Survey have been released. The data covers an 11-month period, from April 1, 2021 to February 28, 2022 and includes feedback from 109 respondents. The request for voluntary feedback was to help improve the GNWT’s offer and delivery of quality French language communications and services to the public.

Results from the report include:

  • 66.7 per cent of the respondents used at least one French language service offered by the GNWT during the reporting period.
  • There was a decrease from 84.7 per cent to 65.2 per cent in direct services delivered in 2021-22; but an increase in the other delivery methods: referral and interpretation or language facilitation.
  • Respondents identified that the three most important categories of service to receive in French were health and wellness, justice and law, and public safety.
  • Most respondents were either very satisfied or satisfied with the service(s) received: 76.8% in 2021-22, versus 81.7% for 2020-21. However, there was an uptick in the number of respondents who were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with services: 23.2% in 2021-22, versus 18.3% in 2020-21.

Recommendations stemming from the survey results include improving the French active offer and ‘Votre avis GTNO’, continued collaboration with Francophone Organizations, and an enhanced promotional campaign on ways to provide community feedback.

The annual satisfaction survey is just one of the ways the GNWT collects and reviews feedback on GNWT communications and services in French. The GNWT also facilitates a third-party review of the French Strategic Plan every five years, in addition to welcoming feedback both formally and informally year-round.
