Effective today, fuel prices will be updated in 14 communities serviced by the Department of Infrastructure’s Petroleum Products Program.
Updated prices will reflect cost changes for wholesale fuel purchases, transportation, and/or dispensing costs.
Communities affected by these price changes include Tsiigehtchic, Colville Lake, Fort Good Hope, Délı̨nę, Tulita, Wrigley, Jean Marie River, Sambaa K’e, Whatì, Gamètì, Łutsël K'é, Sachs Harbour, Ulukhaktok, and Paulatuk.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is required to set retail fuel prices at amounts that recover the full laid-in cost of fuel, which includes the wholesale purchase cost and all transportation costs.
The Department of Infrastructure manages the purchase, transportation and storage of bulk petroleum products for 16 NWT communities not serviced by the private sector. Fuel prices are adjusted at least twice per calendar year, after the summer barge resupply and after the winter road resupply, to correspond with changes to the cost of petroleum products and transporting these products to communities. The next price change is scheduled for July 2026.
