GNWT launches new eServices portal

News Releases

Yellowknife — November 25, 2021

Today, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) launched a new online portal to provide NWT residents an additional point of access for government programs and services.

This secure portal will help to ensure that people are able to access a wider variety of programs and services online using a single account. The eServices portal is safe, secure, and private. Robust security measures are in place, and personal information is protected.

As of today’s launch, there are four programs and services that can be accessed through the eServices portal, including Apprenticeship, Trades and Occupation Certification (ATOC), Student Financial Assistance, Fishing Licences, and applying for and renewing NWT Health Care Cards. Driver and Vehicle services will also be added to the eServices portal in the near future. The GNWT is committed to increasing the number of programs and services available online and will be regularly releasing new bundles of eServices.

Quote

“The Government of the Northwest Territories is committed to providing NWT residents with equitable access to all of its programs and services in person, online and over the phone. The new eServices portal is just one of many ways that the GNWT is using to ensure that NWT people and businesses can access programs and services how they want, where they want, and when they want.”

- Caroline Wawzonek, Minister of Finance

Quick facts

  • Residents can choose between two different sign-methods to create/access an eServices account: Government Sign-In by Verified.Me and NTKey.
  • Government Sign-In by Verified.Me lets you access services by using a "Sign-In Partner" such as your online bank or credit card issuer. No passwords or other personal information are disclosed. The department name is not disclosed to the Sign-In Partner.
  • An NTKey is a unique credential that protects your communications when accessing the GNWT's Online Services. The NTKey service is provided by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) to allow you to securely conduct online business with GNWT departments. The NTKey service issues you your NTKey.
  • This is not eliminating other ways to access programs and services. Residents who don’t want to use eServices can continue to access programs and services the way they always did.
