The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to the Income Assistance Regulations and the newly developed Income Assistance for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Regulations.

The proposed regulations are in support of the changes being made to the Income Assistance program based on feedback received through public engagement, which was shared in the What We Heard Report.

In addition to creating a new Income Assistance for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities program, the proposed regulation changes to the Income Assistance Regulations will support:

• Increasing benefit levels and income exemptions
• Reducing barriers to accessing Income Assistance

The public is invited to review the regulations and a plain language summary of the proposed regulations and provide feedback to ece_income_security@gov.nt.ca or 867-767-9355 ext.71322 by July 21, 2023.
