Minister Macdonald offers condolences following tragic helicopter crash

Today, Minister Jay Macdonald expressed his condolences following last week’s helicopter crash near Fort Good Hope:

“On June 28, 2024, the Northwest Territories experienced the tragic death of a helicopter pilot while in the line of duty for the Fort Good Hope wildfire. There are no words to express how deeply saddened I am by the loss of a member of the wildfire family.

“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the pilot’s family, friends and colleagues. My thoughts are also with the community of Fort Good Hope as they navigate this difficult time. “The safety of our responders is the top priority every wildfire season. The bonds formed through this incredibly challenging work run deep, both personally and professionally. This is a devastating loss for our fire crews and wildfire management teams who work tirelessly to keep us safe, and I encourage staff to access the counselling services that have been made available. Thank you for your unwavering support and hard work.”
