Quotes:

“The new Stanton Territorial Hospital is the largest project in our territory’s history and represents a significant investment in the people of the NWT. The hard work and dedication of countless staff in completing this project on time and on budget, and the innovative P3 financing approach, will allow us to meet the health needs of residents without increasing costs to them”

-Premier Bob McLeod, on behalf of P3 Ministers, Robert C. McLeod (Finance), Wally Schumann (Infrastructure), Glen Abernethy (Health and Social Services).

“Our goal of Best Health, Best Care for a Better Future requires that we have facilities, programming and approaches that meet the changing needs of Northerners. The new Stanton Territorial Hospital is one part of health system transformation that includes a focus on cultural safety, primary health, on-the-land options, mental health and wellness. I want to thank all the dedicated staff who have helped us achieve this milestone and for their continued efforts and service to our residents.”

-Glen Abernethy, Minister of Health and Social Services

“Today marks a milestone moment for our health and social services system, as well as for each and every person who has worked on this project over the past 4 years. This new hospital represents a new opportunity to improve the way we work, to improve the comfort and care of our patients and clients, and to advance our broader work on health system transformation as we go forward.”

-Jim Antoine, Chair of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority Leadership Council
