Take a Family on the Land Program Returns

Public Service Announcement

Yellowknife — May 28, 2024

To help offset the costs of participating in land-based experiences like camping, boating, fishing and hunting, and traditional activities, funding through the Take a Family on the Land Program is once again being offered so more northerners can get involved.

Any Indigenous government, Indigenous organization, community government or not-for-profit association in the Northwest Territories can apply for funding to help families get out on the land. Successful applicants will receive up to $10,000 to support families who may not have the resources to participate in on the land activities.

This program is intended to support families that includes any two or more people who play an important role in each other’s lives. All family combinations, including 2SLGBTQIPA+ families, single-parent families and multigenerational families, are eligible. Individuals cannot apply for this program directly but can approach eligible organizations in their community.

Applications are being accepted until June 22, 2024.
