Yellowknife — December 19, 2022

Licensed tourism operators operating in the Northwest Territories (NWT) have a final opportunity to access up to $22,500 in funding under the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT)’s Tourism Restart Investment Program (TRIP).

Applications will be accepted until January 16, 2023 from tourism operators working to re-establish their operations and activities following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding is available to support marketing and promotions initiatives, maintenance related to re-opening their facilities, as well as staff recruitment and training. TRIP will contribute up to 90 per cent of eligible costs to a maximum of $22,500.  In all cases, the applicant must contribute cash equity of 10 per cent.

TRIP was updated for delivery in 2022-23 thanks to a renewed partnership between the GNWT and the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor).

For this final application intake, funding caps for individual schedules have been removed. Previous recipients of TRIP funding who have not exceeded the program’s overall funding cap of $22,500 are encouraged to re-apply.  Over $2 million has been provided to tourism operators since 2021 under TRIP.
