A What We Heard Report has been published and is now available following the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) review of the Residential Tenancies Act. The Act sets out the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, helping to ensure fair and balanced rental relationships.
The review considered issues and recommendations identified in the annual reports of the Chief Rental Officer, as well as input obtained through targeted stakeholder engagement. It examined areas where the Act is functioning effectively and identified potential opportunities for improvement or modernization.
The What We Heard report provides a high-level overview of the input received. This work will help inform potential legislative amendments to the Act in the 21st Legislative Assembly, when further public and stakeholder engagement will take place.
