Effective April 1, 2024, the carbon tax on diesel home heating fuel will be suspended in the Northwest Territories (NWT). Consumers will receive a point-of-purchase rebate on all diesel home heating fuel purchased in the NWT until March 31, 2027.

Yellowknife (September 7, 2023) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has adjusted the Evacuee Income Disruption Support (EIDS) program. Starting immediately, eligible residents will now receive the full $750 as a one-time payment, without any withholding tax.
Yellowknife (September 1, 2023) – The Evacuee Income Disruption Support (EIDS) program assists NWT residents who have lost employment income during extended evacuation periods.
