What’s new is really old! Join Stephanie Yuill for a journey into the recycling past, long before blue bins and bottle deposits. Through hands-on activities, props, a bit of drama and a whole lot of fun, you’ll get the goods on the original reducers, re-users, and recyclers.

November 31, 2010 - In honour of Remembrance Day, a new web feature entitled A Place of Honour: War Casualties Commemorated in NWT Place Names is available on the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre’s website. The webpage features lists of Second World War casualties, Victoria Cross recipients, Wartime Naval losses, Canadian Military Actions and Military Commanders.

November 5, 2010 - Terry Pamplin presents "War: What is the Cost?", a meditation on war featuring music and live painting.

Performances are November 12 & 13 at 8:00pm, at the Museum Cafe, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre.  Donations will be accepted at the door towards the Canadian Landmine Foundation.

November 5, 2010 - Media Literacy Week kicked off nationwide earlier this week by highlighting the need for parents, educators and youth to talk about the ways that gender is portrayed in media and how this can influence young people’s perceptions of themselves and others.

November 4, 2010 - Amazing Family Sundays returns to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre this Sunday, November 7, with the opening of the René Fumoleau exhibit, Seasons of Beauty. The exhibit will be on display until May 2011.

November 3, 2010 - The Minister of Education, Culture, and Employment provided Members of the Legislative Assembly with highlights from the new NWT Literacy Strategy.

November 1, 2010 - Career Week kicked off today, and there are many events planned throughout the Northwest Territories to celebrate. This year’s theme is “Seek Change, Find Direction.”

“Planning for your future, making career choices and breaking into the job market can seem overwhelming,” says the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE), Jackson Lafferty. “Career Week is a great chance for all residents of the Northwest Territories to learn more about the many career opportunities, programs and services available to them.”

October 27, 2010 - The Minister of Education, Culture and Employment, Jackson Lafferty, presented the Government of the Northwest Territories' NWT Aboriginal Languages Plan - A Shared Responsibility today.

Mr. Speaker, later today I will table the Government of the Northwest Territories’ NWT Aboriginal Languages Plan – A Shared Responsibility. The Plan was crafted after reviewing the Standing Committee on Government Operations report, Reality Check – Securing a Future for the Official Languages of the Northwest Territories.

October 25, 2010 - The Minister of Education, Culture, and Employment, Jackson Lafferty, announced that the Department is working on a NWT Labour Force Development Framework that looks ahead to the next 10 years.
