YELLOWKNIFE (September 30, 2015) – The Department of Health and Social Services is encouraging NWT residents to talk about organ and tissue donation with their families. The “Life is Sacred – Become a Donor” campaign aims to raise awareness in the NWT about organ and tissue donation.

YELLOWKNIFE (September 24, 2015) – Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger announced today that the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has signed an agreement with Boreal Health Partnership (BHP) to design, build, finance and maintain the Stanton Territorial Hospital.

The GNWT selected BHP following an evaluation of competitive proposals submitted by pre-qualified proponents.  Today’s announcement formalizes the selection of BHP as the preferred proponent to work on the hospital.

YELLOWKNIFE (September 15, 2015) – Members of the NWT Health and Social Services’ system Joint Leadership Council (JLC) met in Yellowknife last week to review progress on plans to establish a Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NWTHSSA).  

Board Chairs and Public Administrators applauded the vision and leadership of the 17^th Legislative Assembly in passing amendments to the Hospital Insurance and Health and Social Services Administration Act, allowing for the establishment of the NWTHSSA. 

YELLOWKNIFE (August 21, 2015) – The renewal of the Stanton Territorial Hospital moves closer to reality with the announcement today by Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger, that Boreal Health Partnership (BHP) has been selected as the Preferred Proponent, pursuant to the GNWT’s Request for Proposals for the project.

The GNWT and BHP will be working together to finalize the Project Agreement and start the preparatory work required before construction can begin later this Fall.

YELLOWKNIFE (August 12, 2015) – Residents on extended vacations now have an extra month of extra days allowing them to be outside the territory without their health coverage being affected.

As long as residents maintain their permanent residency in the NWT, residents will now only need to be physically present in the NWT for 153 days, down from the 183 day limit and is consistent with what several other provinces are doing.
