Department Information

The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs works to provide overall management and direction to the Executive branch of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department is responsible for:  coordinating and supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and actions in support of cross-government goals The Department is responsible for ensuring mutually respectful intergovernmental relations between the territorial government and Aboriginal, provincial, territorial and national and international governments are maintained; along with negotiating and implementing land, resources And self-government agreements that address Aboriginal rights in the Northwest Territories.

Job Information

Reporting to the Manager, Regional Operations, the Government Services Officer provides front line service to community members through the Single Window Service Centre. The position supports residents in accessing government programs and services, improves coordination between departments, and helps ensure government services are accessible, timely, and responsive to community needs. This role requires discretion, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to respectful, client centred service within a rural and remote community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as the first point of contact for the Single Window Service Centre
- Provide information, guidance, and referrals related to territorial, federal, Indigenous, and other government programs and services
- Assist clients with completing applications, forms, and required documentation
- Support clients in navigating online and electronic service tools
- Act as a liaison between the community and government departments and service providers
- Participate in community and interagency meetings as required
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Support visiting government staff and service delivery in the community

Key Qualifications: 

A minimum of Grade Ten (10), with two (2) year's experience in an Administrative or Customer Service Representative capacity. 

Experience in the public sector, in a position involving the provision of a variety of services in an informational, public relations or problem-solving role is an asset. 

Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered.
