Summer Student Employment Program

The Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) recognizes the value of summer student employment to support eligible northern students and to provide experience to future graduates with the intention of retaining skilled northern graduates. The program provides average wages between $26 and $29 per hour to help offset the high cost of university. 

Summer Student Employment benefits:

  • A number of opportunities throughout the NWT and across 11 Departments and 13 Agencies.  
  • A wide range of training opportunities, career planning services and mentorship from supervisors and senior team members.
  • Full summer employment with a typical employment period from April 15 to August 30.
  • Diverse range of job opportunities from Junior Accounting Clerk to Parks Officer.
  • Paid Statutory holidays.
