Premier McLeod announces senior management changes

(YELLOWKNIFE – February 23, 2016) Premier Bob McLeod named Ms. Kelly Kaylo as acting Deputy Minister of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) today. Ms. Kaylo replaces Mr. Peter Vician, who is retiring from the Government of the Northwest Territories after 34  years of service. The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has undertaken an executive search process to identify a permanent replacement for Mr. Vician.

Bob McLeod: Spectacular Stories - Growth for the NWT Tourism Sector

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to update the Legislature on continuing activities in support of our territory’s most promising growth industry.

Tourism is the Northwest Territories’ single-largest renewable resource-based sector.  It has enjoyed continued growth through 2015. Thanks to investments and initiatives undertaken by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment – and our many partners and affiliate industry organizations, we are also well-positioned today to capitalize on even more opportunities in 2016.

Yellowknife filmmakers take France by storm

YELLOWKNIFE (February 11, 2016) – The Northwest Territories (NWT) film industry is receiving major international exposure at one of the world’s most prestigious short film festivals thanks to the work and talents of two of its longtime ambassadors.

Yellowknife filmmakers Pablo Saravanja and Jay Bulckaert of the Artless Collective presented Conibear — an original horror short — to a packed audience at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival last night.
