A workshop designed to build skills, knowledge, and capacity within the Aboriginal tourism sector, FirstHost helped participants learn essential service delivery skills while celebrating Aboriginal culture.
TORONTO (March 23, 2016) — One of the Northwest Territories’ (NWT) own will be thrust into the limelight this evening.
NWT filmmaker Jen Walden’s short film Painted Girl will be featured in this year’s Women in Film and Television - Toronto Showcase — an event recognizing and celebrating female talent in the film and television industry organized by Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T).
Walden wrote, directed, and produced the feature on her own.
YELLOWKNIFE ( March 21, 2016) — Statistics today released confirm one of the Northwest Territories’ (NWT) most important growth industries proved resilient in a difficult financial climate.
The 2014-2015 tourism results were collected from a comprehensive survey completed every four years by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s (ITI) Tourism and Parks division, providing benchmarks for a wide range of variables, including spending, trip characteristics and travel motivations.

YELLOWKNIFE (March 3, 2016) — A Yellowknife-based organization will spread the love of film to communities across the Northwest Territories (NWT) this March.
The Yellowknife International Film Festival (YKIFF) Road Tour — an annual event coordinated by Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) — will screen NWT and Yukon-produced films alongside select international features in each region of the NWT.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the achievements of a transformative figure, an economic builder in our territory, a true Northern leader, Nellie Cournoyea.
Nellie served our territory and the Inuvialuit people for nearly four decades. Her career is a testament to what can be achieved with heart, resilience and clarity of vision.
