(June 14, 2013) - Good morning, my name is David Ramsay, and I am the Minister of Industry Tourism and Investment for the Government of the Northwest Territories.

As Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment I am responsible for supporting the commercial fishery in the Northwest Territories which is largely centered on Great Slave Lake.  This is the topic of my discussion with you today.

Report sets the stage for Strategy to guide the NWT’s mining future

YELLOWKNIFE (June 4, 2013) – A stronger, environmentally sustainable and industry-friendly mineral development sector in the Northwest Territories is one step closer to reality following the release of Pathways to Mineral Development. The report was prepared by the Mineral Development Strategy (MDS) Stakeholder Engagement Panel and includes  recommendations to support a sustainable mineral exploration and development sector in the NWT.

(June 3, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, mining has a long and rich history in the NWT. For more than 60 years, our vast resources have made us a land of great potential, and we need to make the most of that potential. One of the main priorities of this Government is to have an economy that is strong and diversified, and we identified the need for a comprehensive, environmentally sustainable Mineral Development Strategy.

Report Outlines Opportunities for new NWT Economic Strategy

YELLOWKNIFE (May 30, 2013) – The NWT Economic Opportunities Strategy (EOS) Advisory Panel has completed and delivered its What We Heard Report to the project’s Governance Committee.

As part of the process to develop the Strategy, the panel was tasked with engaging NWT residents and economic stakeholders in a series of discussions to identify regional economic opportunities and challenges.
