June 8, 2011 - A key priority of the 16^th Legislative Assembly received a welcome endorsement in the federal Budget Monday. The Government of Canada reaffirmed its commitment to spend $30 million per year over the next five years to advance the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk portion of the Mackenzie Valley Highway project.

March 17, 2011 - A special group of volunteers today celebrated their third anniversary of service to travellers arriving at the Yellowknife Airport. The Arctic Ambassadors, who are sponsored by the NWT Seniors Society, greet travellers at the airport offering information, advice, and a helping hand.

March 14, 2011 - This March, the Department of Transportation will be holding Mackenzie Valley Highway Community Meetings. Supper will be served at 5:30 PM, followed by presentations and discussions at 6:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.

March 10, 2011 - 2011 is the Year of Road Safety, and the Minister of Transportation highlighted the various initiatives the GNWT is undertaking to increase road safety in the Northwest Territories.
 

March 7, 2011 - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the former project developer and project engineer on the Deh Cho Bridge project have agreed through mediation to settlement of all claims for money owed under the claimants’ contracts with the Deh Cho Bridge Corporation Ltd. (DCBC). The GNWT assumed responsibility for DCBC’s defence of those claims under the Letter Agreement of June, 2010.

March 1, 2011 - Minister of Transportation Michael McLeod says the issues raised in a mid-project performance audit report of the Deh Cho Bridge project, released today by the Auditor General of Canada, have been previously identified and dealt with by the world class team brought in to manage the project.
