YELLOWKNIFE (February 14, 2013) – Members of the Executive Councils of the Tłįchǫ Government and the 17^th Legislative Assembly met bilaterally on Friday, February 8^th. This was the third meeting between the two Executives and reflects the continuing development of their government-to-government relationship and commitment to working collaboratively on behalf of the Tłįchǫ  people and all residents of the Northwest Territories.

Areas of discussion included:

YELLOWKNIFE (February 13, 2013) –Honourable Jackson Lafferty, MLA for Monfwi, Grand Chief Edward Erasmus and Chief Clifford Daniels, presented the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to four Behchoko residents on Thursday, February 7 in the Great Hall of the Legislative Assembly. Also in attendance were Commissioner of the Northwest Territories George Tuccaro, Chief Alfonz Nitsiza, Chief Charlie Football and Chief Edward Chocolate.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 11, 2013) – Northwest Territories films and film-makers are the focus this month, with screenings of NWT films at NWT Days in Ottawa and a traveling road tour heading out across the territory during February.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 7, 2013) – Today’s budget tabled by Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger sticks to the four-year fiscal plan developed last year while achieving operational savings to invest in urgent priorities.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 6, 2013) The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is in active discussions with Harry Winston Diamond Corporation, soon to be renamed Dominion Diamond Corporation (DDC).  These discussions are the first step in securing a formal diamond allocation agreement with DDC for a portion of production from their diamond mining interests in the NWT.

OTTAWA (February 1, 2013) – Premier Bob McLeod and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay will host Spectacular NWT Days at Winterlude, celebrating the territory’s culture and showcasing economic and investment opportunities.

OTTAWA (January 31, 2013) - Premier McLeod  met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper yesterday to discuss ways their governments can work together to achieve their shared vision of a North in which self-reliant individuals live in healthy, vital communities, manage their own affairs and shape their own destinies.

INUVIK (January 30, 2013) - The Environmental Impact Review Board (EIRB) has completed its review of the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway and submitted its final report to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada.  The Government of Northwest Territories is reviewing the report, which supports approval of the project with conditions.

YELLOWKNIFE (January 30, 2013) – Glen Abernethy,Minister Responsible for the Public Utilities Board, announced appointments to the Board today.

YELLOWKNIFE (January 28, 2013) - The world's premier technical mineral exploration conference with thousands of attendees from the mineral development sector provided an ideal backdrop to kick off the NWT Mineral Development Strategy.
