YELLOWKNIFE (June 11, 2012) – The GNWT has made a formal commitment to a set of principles and key actions to strengthen and renew relationships with its Aboriginal government partners. “Respect, Recognition, Responsibility: The Government of the Northwest Territories’ Approach to Engaging with Aboriginal Governments” was developed based on discussions with Aboriginal governments and community leaders. It has been produced in all NWT official languages.

YELLOWKNIFE (June 6, 2012) – Today the Honourable Robert C. McLeod, Minister Responsible for Youth, released a report that profiles youth programs that took place in the NWT during the United Nations International Year of Youth, 2010-11.
YELLOWKNIFE (May 29, 2012) – Seven Northwest Territories residents were honoured this morning as inductees into the Education Hall of Fame. The third annual Induction Ceremony was held in the Legislative Assembly’s Great Hall, as a way of recognizing the important and lasting contributions of those dedicated to education in the North.
YELLOWKNIFE (May 24, 2012) – Today, Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger presented the first budget of the 17th Legislative Assembly.
The 2012-13 Budget projects an operating surplus of $74 million; returning the GNWT to its first surplus in five years. The Budget includes no new taxes. However, effective April 1, 2012, property tax mill rates, liquor mark-ups and a number of fees were adjusted for inflation.
