YELLOWKNIFE (April 18, 2012) Finally, the NWT is seeing a reduction in STIs. The NWT has seen a drop in the number of cases for Gonorrhea. Gonorrhea (also known as “The Clap”) is a common STI that can be cured with antibiotics.  However, if not treated early, it can seriously affect your health and may cause sterility.

The Report on Sexually Transmitted Infections in Canada: 2009 found Gonorrhea rates in the NWT drop by 20.1% from 2008 to 2009.

YELLOWKNIFE (April 17, 2012) -- On Wednesday, April 4^th, 2012, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Fédération franco-ténoise (FFT) Consultation/Cooperation Committee successfully concluded the initial draft of the Strategic Plan on French Language Communications and Services (the Strategic Plan).

YELLOWKNIFE (April 16, 2012) – The Union of Northern Workers (UNW) and the Government of the Northwest Territories have reached a tentative agreement for a new four-year collective agreement.

If ratified, the new collective agreement will be effective April 1, 2012 and will apply to the almost 4,000 UNW members employed by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) across the Northwest Territories, as well as employees with the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission in the NWT and Nunavut.

YELLOWKNIFE (April 13, 2012) - The planned construction of a new long-term care facility was announced yesterday at a ground breaking ceremony in Behchoko, Northwest Territories. The new facility will replace the Jimmy Erasmus Seniors home and will provide services to 18 NWT long-term care residents.
