Reminder: Emergency Evacuation Relief Program Applications
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is reminding residents from Whatì and Fort Providence to apply for the Emergency Evacuation Relief Program (EERP).

The program provides $800 per adult and $400 per dependent under 18 years old to residents who left their community because of the recent evacuation orders. 
The fastest and easiest way to apply is through the online application portal.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

• Eligible residents must apply within 14 days after an evacuation order is lifted. The deadline for Whatì residents to apply is September 20. The Fort Providence deadline will be set when the evacuation order is lifted.
• Please submit one application only to avoid delays.

Quick Facts: 

• The GNWT started issuing EERP payments for Whatı̀ and Fort Providence on September 9, 2025.
• Payments will continue on a daily basis for completed and approved applications.
• Residents from Whati and Fort Providence have until 14 days after evacuation orders have been rescinded to apply for the program.
