The mining industry has played a significant role in the economic prosperity of the Northwest Territories and there are a number of individuals present this evening that have contributed greatly the industry’s success in our territory and deserve recognition tonight.
YELLOWKNIFE (January 26) — As much as $100,000 was generated in sales for the NWT’s traditional arts and crafts sector in December thanks to the availability of fur and moose hide under the Genuine Mackenzie Valley Fur (GMVF) Program’s fur and hide procurement initiative.
YELLOWKNIFE (January 25, 2016) – Premier of the Northwest Territories and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) Bob McLeod will attend the 2016 Mineral Exploration Roundup in Vancouver, BC this week. Tonight’s screening and festivities, sponsored by Dene Nahjo, will celebrate the film's indigenous theme and the positive impacts that the film sector can provide in the recognition of Aboriginal cultures, languages and traditional knowledge.
YELLOWKNIFE (November 19, 2015) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has acquired the leasehold interests for both the Northwest Territories and Yukon mineral rights to North American Tungsten Company Limited’s (NATCL) Mactung property.
YELLOWKNIFE (October 16, 2015) – The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) is introducing a two-year temporary Assessment Work Incentive for exploration activities conducted by recorded mineral claim holders in the NWT.
ITI Minister David Ramsay says the move comes in response to a recommendation in the NWT Mineral Development Strategy and is supported by the Mining Industry Advisory Board (MIAB).
YELLOWKNIFE (October 16, 2015) – Fifty residents from Yellowknife, Dettah and Behchokǫ have competed an Introduction to Prospecting Course presented by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) in association with its industry partners, the Tłıchǫ Government and the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
