October 26, 2011 - Hon. Bob McLeod, MLA for Yellowknife South, is the Premier Elect for the Government of the NWT's 17th Assembly. He will be sworn in tomorrow afternoon.

October 24, 2011 - Ms. Karan Shaner has been appointed to the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories. Until her appointment Thursday, by Canada’s Minister of Justice, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Ms. Shaner was serving as the Assistant Deputy Minister (Attorney General Branch) of the GNWT’s Department of Justice.

October 5, 2011 - Premier Floyd Roland says he, like all NWT residents, was left in shock yesterday following the crash of a regularly scheduled flight from Yellowknife to Lutselk'e.

“There are no words that can begin to express the devastation that we feel today as a Territory. In a summer when one tragic plane crash was too much, we have had three.

“Canada’s North is rapidly evolving, changing and positioning itself as a key economic leader of tomorrow. We’re poised for great things. September 23, 2011 - Today, Premier Floyd Roland released the following statement on the Arctic Sunwest tragedy.

September 19, 2011 - Minister of Health and Social Services J. Michael Miltenberger has appointed Peter Clarkson Public Administrator for the Beaufort-Delta Health and Social Services Authority.

Mr. Clarkson is the former mayor of Inuvik and current Regional Director for the Department of the Executive in Inuvik. The Public Administrator assumes the responsibilities of a governing body with respect to operations and finance for the Authority.

August 29, 2011 - Premier Floyd Roland says the Prime Minister’s quick actions, last week to confirm  ongoing operation of water-quality monitoring stations in the Northwest Territories demonstrate Canada’s commitment to working in partnership with the NWT – and in the true spirit and intent of Devolution.

Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to provide Members of this Assembly with an update on the work our government has been undertaking related to the devolution of public lands and resources from the Government of Canada to the Government of the Northwest Territories.
