GNWT Launches New Mental Wellness Magazine

YELLOWKNIFE (May 6, 2014) – Minister of Health and Social Services Glen Abernethy today launched Mind & Spirit, a wellness magazine to raise awareness of mental health. The magazine will help inspire people to talk about mental health as it shares success stories of individuals dealing with and overcoming mental health and addiction issues. It also provides information on the services that are available to residents seeking help.

GNWT Recognized as One of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People

YELLOWKNIFE (April 28, 2014) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is proud to confirm it has been selected as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People for 2014. The award, an annual recognition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes Canadian employers that are leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees by offering great employment environments for younger workers. The competition reviews a wide variety of initiatives, from mentorship to training and advancement opportunities, important to younger Canadians.

ENR Minister Approves Type “A” Water Licences

YELLOWKNIFE (April 24, 2014) – Minister of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) J. Michael Miltenberger approved two Amended Type "A" water licences today, as required under the Mackenzie Valley Resources Management Act.

These are the first water licences to be approved since devolution came into effect on April 1, 2014. The amended licences were forwarded for Ministerial review and approval by the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Boardearlier this month.

Minister of Justice Congratulates NWT RCMP Members as they Receive Bravery Awards

YELLOWKNIFE (April 24, 2014) – Minister David Ramsay congratulates three RCMP members who today each received Decorations of Bravery from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, in Ottawa.

“These fine RCMP officers, through their courageous actions, have demonstrated their commitment to the people they serve in our communities. We are grateful and very proud to have them stationed here in the Northwest Territories, said Minister Ramsay.

Appel de demandes pour le programme des jeunes ambassadeurs

Yellowknife, le 23 avril 2014 — Le ministère des Affaires municipales et communautaires invite les jeunes à présenter une demande au programme des jeunes ambassadeurs des Territoires du Nord‑Ouest (TNO). Le programme offre aux jeunes la possibilité d’acquérir des compétences en leadership en participant à des évènements spéciaux et en acceptant des affectations bénévoles. Voici notamment les évènements auxquels les jeunes ambassadeurs ont participé dans le passé : les Jeux d’hiver de l’Arctique, les Jeux d’hiver du Canada et les Jeux autochtones de l’Amérique du Nord.

Minister Congratulates NWT Chamber of Commerce Board Members and Business Award Winners

YELLOWKNIFE (April 22, 2014) – Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay congratulates the recently elected NWT Chamber of Commerce President,  Board of Directors and its 2014 Business Award winners.

Allen Stanzell was elected as the new Chamber president during its Annual General Meeting and Business Conference held at the beginning of April in Yellowknife.

GNWT Holds Government-to-Government Meetings with Beaufort-Delta Regional Council

INUVIK (April 10, 2014) – The GNWT has concluded government-to-government meetings with the Beaufort-Delta Regional Council (BDRC). GNWT Cabinet ministers and BDRC leaders discussed their joint commitment to the transition to self-government and to establishing an intergovernmental agreement on programs and services.
