TUKTOYAKTUK (February 14, 2012) -- A traditional sealskin kayak constructed by the students of the Mangilaluk School is the newest display at the Tuktoyaktuk airport.
Construction took place over the past several months and local Tuktoyatuk resident Darrel Nasogaluak led the project. Mr. Nasogaluak is a strong supporter of incorporating traditional knowledge into local schools and taught the students how to build the kayak using traditional tools and materials.
YELLOWKNIFE (Feb. 10, 2012) – The Northwest Territories Housing Corporation (NWTHC) is pleased to announce today that it will be providing $2.3 million toward the construction of transitional housing for single women and women with children. This contribution to the Yellowknife Homelessness Coalition and YWCA Yellowknife for the construction of this housing project supports a critical shelter need in the NWT.
YELLOWKNIFE (February 9, 2012) -- Minister of Finance J. Michael Miltenberger introduced An Act to Amend the Borrowing Authorization Act. When passed, the Act will increase the amount the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is allowed to borrow under the Borrowing Authorization Act from $175 million to $275 million.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (January 23, 2012) – Students from across Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon are participating in Get Reel, a video campaign to create anti-tobacco ads, as part of this year’s pan-territorial Smoke Screening initiative.
For the eighth year, the governments of Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon are promoting this educational anti-tobacco program for youth, Smoke Screening 8, which exposes students to international and local northern anti-tobacco messages through film and social media.
