Collective Bargaining Begins Between GNWT and UNW
December 19, 2011 – Today, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) begins negotiation of a new collective agreement with the Union of Northern Workers (UNW).

December 16, 2011 – Minister of Health and Social Services Tom Beaulieu has appointed former Northwest Territories Premier Joseph L. Handley as Public Administrator for the Stanton Territorial Health Authority (STHA) effective December 1, 2011.
“I welcome Mr. Handley into the position of Public Administrator,” said Mr. Beaulieu. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise both from within the GNWT and as a leader. I look forward to working with him and supporting his role as Public Administrator.”
December 15, 2011 - Physical activity programs offered in the after school time period are being supported with $615,000 in Government of the Northwest Territories funding announced by Robert C. McLeod, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA). The programs, delivered by schools throughout the territory, are supported by the department through the Active After School program.
December 9, 2011 – Recipients of the 2011-2012 High Performance Athlete Grant Program were announced today by the Honourable Robert C. McLeod, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs, and Richard Daitch, President of the Sport North Federation.
December 8, 2011 – Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will be at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre today to open the Hunters of the Alpine Ice exhibit.
December 6, 2011- Minister David Ramsay has taken over as Chair of the Committee on Internal Trade (CIT) for the next year.
“There has been significant momentum on reducing barriers to interprovincial trade over the last few years and I will ensure this momentum continues as I take on the role of Chair,” said Minister Ramsay. “I want to thank the Government of Prince Edward Island for all of their efforts and progress as Chair this previous year.”
