The Territorial Specialist, Audiology provides clinical leadership and expert support for audiology services across the Northwest Territories. This role helps ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care and that services are consistent across regions.

The Specialist reports directly to the Territorial Manager, Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (Manager). The Specialist works closely with audiologists and other healthcare providers to improve programs, support staff development, and guide clinical practice. This includes developing policies, mentoring staff, and monitoring service quality.

This role also includes direct patient care. The Specialist assesses and treats patients, supports families, and works with healthcare teams and communities to improve hearing health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and subject matter expertise in audiology
- Develop and update policies, procedures, and practice guidelines
- Monitor service quality and lead improvement initiatives
- Share knowledge and best practices across regions
- Stay current with research and trends in audiology
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up

Key Qualifications
- Knowledge of audiology standards, practices, and patient care
- Experience in clinical leadership, mentoring, or supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and community resources
- Research, evaluation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

To be successful in this role, typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

This level of knowledge is typically acquired through the successful completion of a Master's
Degree in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology degree in addition to 5 years of clinical Audiology
practice.

Previous supervisory experience would be an asset.
