Intergovernmental Meeting between Tłıchǫ Government and Government of the Northwest Territories

Premier Bob McLeod, Minister Wally Schumann, Minister Alfred Moses and Minister Glen Abernethy of the NWT Executive Council met with the Tłı̨chǫ Government Grand Chief George Mackenzie, Chief Clifford Daniels, Chief David Wedawin, Chief Charlie Football in Behchokǫ̀ on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

 

The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, including:

 

Intergovernmental Meeting between the Sahtu Secretariat Inc. and the Government of the Northwest Territories

Cabinet Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly and Premier Bob McLeod met with the Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated Chairperson Charles McNeely, presidents of the Sahtu Land Corporations, and the Sahtu Dene Council Chiefs in Norman Wells, NT on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

This was the sixth meeting of the Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated (SSI) and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) since they signed the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding in June 2015.

Fort Smith (April 11, 2019) – Cabinet Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly, Premier Bob McLeod, Minister Caroline Cochrane and Minister Wally Schumann met with the Salt River First Nation Chief Frieda Martselos, Council members Melvin Fortier, Ray Tourangeau, Chris Hunter and Council members-elect Warren Gagnon and Warren Sikyea in Fort Smith on Monday, April 8th, 2019.

GNWT Releases Public Engagement Employee Guide

YELLOWKNIFE (March 12, 2019)—The Government of the Northwest Territories has released its employee guide to support a common and consistent approach to public engagement planning, implementation and reporting.

 

The Public Engagement Employee Guide reflects the best practices model created by the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), which is an international association that seeks to promote and improve public engagement practice. The Guide also builds on the shared expertise and experience of GNWT employees.

Louis Sebert: Progress on Transparency and Accountability Initiatives

Mr. Speaker, in recognition of global Open Government Week, I would like to take this opportunity to update this House on our Government’s progress in advancing our mandate commitments for increasing government transparency and accountability.

 

One year ago, Mr. Speaker, I stood on this floor and announced the release of our government’s Open Government Policy.  The Policy represented an important step toward fulfilling our government’s pledge to greater openness and transparency.

Caroline Cochrane: International Women's Day

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to acknowledge International Women’s Day.  International Women’s Day is held annually on March 8th to celebrate women’s social, cultural and political achievements throughout history and across nations.  International Women’s Day also provides an important opportunity to showcase commitments towards women’s equality, to raise awareness and to highlight initiatives towards gender parity.
