YELLOWKNIFE (February 4, 2016) – Premier Bob McLeod announced today that a new Fiscal Responsibility Policy has received Commissioner-in-Executive-Council approval following its recommendation by Cabinet.

Mr. Speaker, we often talk about the people of the NWT as being our greatest resource. I think it’s fair to say that our Government of the Northwest Territories’ public service is made up of many of those remarkable people who dedicate themselves to public service. Today I would like to acknowledge one of those public servants who has dedicated 25 years to this Government and the people of the NWT.

YELLOWKNIFE (October 1, 2015) – Premier Bob McLeod tabled new guidelines in the Legislative Assembly today that will govern the activities of Ministers and the public service during the upcoming election period and following days before the establishment of the next Legislative Assembly. The Cabinet Operational Guidelines During a Transition Period set out the principles of restraint during the campaign and the broader period of time around the creation of a new government called the ‘transition period’.

Yellowknife (May 26, 2015) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) supports the Northwest Territories Power Corporation’s (NTPC) decision to submit a proposal in the upcoming competitive process for the Hay River electrical utility franchise.

INUVIK (April 29, 2015) –  Premier Bob McLeod met on Monday with Chair and CEO Nellie Cournoyea to sign the Intergovernmental Agreement on Programs and Services Cooperation and Coordination between the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).

QUEBEC (April 13, 2015) – The Premiers of Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut are bringing the interests of Northerners to the April 14th Quebec Climate Change Summit.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO (April 1, 2015) – The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, and Premier Bob McLeod of the Northwest Territories joined residents of the territory in celebrating the one year anniversary of Devolution.

“It is a pleasure to mark today an important milestone in the history of the Northwest Territories,” stated Minister Valcourt. “One year ago today, on April 1st, 2014, the Northwest Territories Devolution Act came into force, marking the final step in the territory’s devolution process.”

YELLOWKNIFE (February 9, 2015) – The Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Single Window Service Center model has been recognized for its innovative management by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC). The Single Window Service Center model received bronze in Federal/Provincial/Territorial category of the  IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award for 2014.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to announce that the Government of the Northwest Territories and its Single Window Service Center model has been recognized for its innovative management by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada or known as IPAC.

BEIJING (January 22, 2015 ) – As  a founding member of the Fur Institute of Canada (FIC), the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) advanced a proposed Memorandum of Understanding between the FIC and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
