Premier’s Awards Presented

Yellowknife (June 4, 2014) – Premier Bob McLeod recognized individual employees, teams of employees and their collaborative partners from outside the public service with the Premier’s Awards for Excellence and Collaboration in a ceremony in the Great Hall of the Legislative Assembly this morning.

Yellowknife, le 29 mai 2014 – Travaillezaugtno.ca, la version française du site Web Careers du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (GTNO), permet aux chercheurs d’emploi francophones de découvrir les postes de la fonction publique territoriale et de postuler, ainsi que d’encourager les travailleurs des TNO et du pays à équilibrer leur vie et à vivre pleinement en travaillant au GTNO.

GNWT Recognized as One of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People

YELLOWKNIFE (April 28, 2014) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is proud to confirm it has been selected as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People for 2014. The award, an annual recognition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes Canadian employers that are leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees by offering great employment environments for younger workers. The competition reviews a wide variety of initiatives, from mentorship to training and advancement opportunities, important to younger Canadians.

Mr. Speaker, to achieve the vision and goals of the 17th Legislative Assembly, the Government of the Northwest Territories, we have and require employees who see challenges as opportunities, employees who value lifelong learning and employees who are engaged in becoming strong, capable leaders. To support employee learning, I am pleased to advise the Department of Human Resources has three new learning and development initiatives planned for 2014-15.

Tom Beaulieu - Building Capacity through GNWT Internship and Secondment Opportunities

Mr. Speaker, jobs for Northerners are a priority of all Members of this Assembly. For the Government of the Northwest Territories, the NWT Public Service Strategic Plan and the Workforce Planning Strategy provide multi-pronged approaches to build capacity through recruitment, development and retention. I would like to provide Members an update on some of these initiatives being led by the Department of Human Resources.
