NWT Takes Home Award for Sustainable Diamond Industry

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (June 1, 2018)The Northwest Territories was recognized last night as a world-leading jurisdiction for responsible mining.

In his acceptance of a Diamonds Do Good Award from the World Diamond Empowerment Fund, Premier Bob McLeod credited the partnership that has evolved between industry and public and Indigenous governments to advance the socially and environmentally-conscious management of mining in the NWT.

Media Advisory: Premiers to discuss outcomes of Western Premiers’ Conference

YELLOWKNIFE (May 16, 2018) – Canada’s Western Premiers, hosted by Northwest Territories Premier, Bob McLeod, will participate in a media conference following the conclusion of the 2018 Western Premiers’ Conference. An overview of the meeting will be provided, with time for questions at the end. Policy Shows Commitment to Making Government More Open, Transparent and Accountable

YELLOWKNIFE (March 09, 2018) – Premier Bob McLeod released the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Open Government Policy, fulfilling a key mandate commitment and demonstrating the government’s continued efforts to become increasingly open, transparent and accountable to Northwest Territories residents.

The Policy establishes a set of Open Government principles, and provides a framework for the development of directives, guidelines and tools that will support and guide departments to implement the principles of Open Government in three key areas:

Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has made a commitment to support the Intergovernmental Council towards implementation of the vision of cooperative and collaborative management of lands and resources, as set out in the Lands and Resources Devolution Agreement.I am pleased to report that the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on Land and Resource Management took place on Friday, December 15th, 2017 here in Yellowknife.
