Academic Advisory Council created to guide transformation of Aurora College

R. J. Simpson, Minister of Education, Culture and Employment, addressed the inaugural meeting of the Aurora College Transformation Academic Advisory Council (Academic Advisory Council) earlier today. The Academic Advisory Council was created to support and advise the Associate Deputy Minister of Post-Secondary Education Renewal during the transformation of Aurora College to a polytechnic university.

It’s a pleasure to be here today for the ninth Project Management Conference. 

I am excited to be taking part of this conference this year in a different capacity than I have in previous years. In the past, I have been a moderator or participant, but this year I get to be here as the new Minister of the Department of Infrastructure.

NWT Alert live test

On November 27th, 2019 at 09:55 am, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will issue a live test of NWT Alert, the Northwest Territories public alerting system. Residents may see and hear the public alert test on cell phones, radio stations and cable networks across the NWT.

 

The Dope Experience

The Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is pleased to announce the official launch of the travelling workshop, The Dope Experience, developed for Northwest Territories  (NWT) youth covering topics such as substance use, mental wellness, and community health.

I would like to recognize the NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines, the NWT Geological Survey, and the many staff and volunteers who make this event possible each year.

Our government is pleased to be both partner and sponsor of the Annual Yellowknife Geoscience Forum and this evening’s awards. 

All of us here recognize that the history of the Northwest Territories cannot be separated from mining and exploration.

Premier Cochrane appoints new Deputy Minister for the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment

Premier Caroline Cochrane today announced the appointment of Pamela Strand as the Deputy Minister for the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI).

Ms. Strand has over 20 years of senior corporate executive leadership experience within both the private and public business sector; she spent 5 years in progressive senior management roles, and has spent the past two and a half years as Assistant Deputy Minister for ITI.

It is a pleasure to be here today representing the Government of the Northwest Territories and as the new Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Infrastructure and WSCC.

I am especially pleased to be here to celebrate the Women in Mining, NWT Chapter launch. A timely one, given our recent territorial elections.

The new territorial government – who I am representing today - is the reflection of an incredible evolution in our territory.
