Mackenzie Valley Corridor, Tlicho All Season Road, Hay River dredging get support in Canada Transportation Act review

YELLOWKNIFE (March 1, 2016) – The report of the Canada Transportation Act (CTA) Review Committee was released on February 25, 2016, and includes multiple recommendations that are beneficial to the Northwest Territories (NWT). The review looks forward 20 to 30 years to identify priorities and potential actions in transportation that will support Canada’s long term economic well-being, including that of the NWT and Northern Canada.

Government of the Northwest Territories launches new drinking water website

YELLOWKNIFE (February 25, 2016) - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has launched a new website to provide accurate, easy to understand information about drinking water in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

Several GNWT departments work in partnership with the community governments to ensure drinking water is safe, including; Health and Social Services, Public Works and Services, Environment and Natural Resources and Municipal and Community Affairs. 

Premier McLeod announces senior management changes

(YELLOWKNIFE – February 23, 2016) Premier Bob McLeod named Ms. Kelly Kaylo as acting Deputy Minister of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) today. Ms. Kaylo replaces Mr. Peter Vician, who is retiring from the Government of the Northwest Territories after 34  years of service. The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has undertaken an executive search process to identify a permanent replacement for Mr. Vician. 

Finance Minister says GNWT needs to find $150 million

YELLOWKNIFE (February 19, 2016) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will begin posting deficit budgets by the 2019-20 fiscal year unless it finds approximately $150 million through a combination of expenditure reductions and revenue measures over the next five years Minister of Finance Robert C. McLeod revealed in his fiscal update to the Legislative Assembly today.
