YELLOWKNIFE (March 1, 2016) – The report of the Canada Transportation Act (CTA) Review Committee was released on February 25, 2016, and includes multiple recommendations that are beneficial to the Northwest Territories (NWT). The review looks forward 20 to 30 years to identify priorities and potential actions in transportation that will support Canada’s long term economic well-being, including that of the NWT and Northern Canada.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 29, 2016) – The Government of the Northwest Territories continues its planning to meet the future needs of the residents of the Northwest Territories with a review of long-term care released today by Minister of Health and Social Services Glen Abernethy.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 25, 2016) - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has launched a new website to provide accurate, easy to understand information about drinking water in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

Several GNWT departments work in partnership with the community governments to ensure drinking water is safe, including; Health and Social Services, Public Works and Services, Environment and Natural Resources and Municipal and Community Affairs. 

YELLOWKNIFE (February 24 2016) – Child Protection Workers from the Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority and the Tlicho Community Services Agency received training on the first component of a new evidence based case management tool earlier this month.

(YELLOWKNIFE – February 23, 2016) Premier Bob McLeod named Ms. Kelly Kaylo as acting Deputy Minister of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) today. Ms. Kaylo replaces Mr. Peter Vician, who is retiring from the Government of the Northwest Territories after 34  years of service. The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has undertaken an executive search process to identify a permanent replacement for Mr. Vician. 

YELLOWKNIFE (February 19, 2016) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will begin posting deficit budgets by the 2019-20 fiscal year unless it finds approximately $150 million through a combination of expenditure reductions and revenue measures over the next five years Minister of Finance Robert C. McLeod revealed in his fiscal update to the Legislative Assembly today.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 19, 2016) – Premier Bob McLeod announced that Minister of Justice Louis Sebert has been designated as the regulator under the Oil and Gas Operations Act (OGOA).  In his capacity as regulator, Minister Sebert will be responsible for regulating onshore oil and gas development outside of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and federal areas.

YELLOWKNIFE (February 18, 2016) – Premier Bob McLeod tabled the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) proposed mandate in the Legislative Assembly this afternoon. The mandate sets out 130 commitments the GNWT is proposing for advancing the priorities all Members of the 18^th Legislative Assembly (MLAs) agreed on in December.
