Project Management Conference

November 7, 2011 – The Department of Public Works and Services will host the 2011 Project Management Conference from November 29 to December 1. Over 300 delegates are expected to attend.

“This conference is a chance for the entire northern project management community to share their knowledge on everything from procurement trends to new energy efficiency technologies, and will promote closer ties within the construction and consulting industries,” said Jackson Lafferty, Minister responsible for Public Works and Services.

78 Get Active NWT Grants Awarded



November14, 2011 – Get Active NWT grants have been awarded to 78 community groups in the Northwest Territories (NWT) to provide support to organize events that will help residents get active this year. Applications were received from groups in all 33 communities and events will be held across the territory in the coming months.

GNWT and Government of Canada partner to advance geoscience research

November 8, 2011 - Today the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister of Health, together with the Honourable David Ramsay, Northwest Territories Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI), announced that the resource industry can count on up-to-date geoscience data in the Northwest Territories (NWT) to support resource exploration and development projects.

Stanton Territorial Hospital Unveils Digital Mammography Machine

November 7, 2011 - Today was the digital mammography machine’s first fully operational day at the Stanton Territorial Hospital. The digital mammography machine was purchased through the funds raised by the CIBC Run for Our Lives and the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation.

The CIBC Run for Our Lives is the NWT’s own breast cancer fundraiser, where money raised in the NWT stays in the NWT. Funds raised by the event are invested in breast health and breast cancer programs, services and equipment needed in the NWT, as well as national research.

NWT Premier and Cabinet Ready to Get to Work

November 7, 2011 - Premier Bob McLeod and the Cabinet of the 17th Legislative Assembly held a day-long planning retreat at the Sah Naji Kwe Lodge near Behchoko on Nov. 3, 2011. Discussions included approaches to engaging with NWT Aboriginal leaders, the timeline around establishing a Cabinet agenda for implementing the priorities of the 17th Legislative Assembly, improving government communications, Devolution and managing relations with federal, provincial and territorial governments.

Two Reid Lake Employees Honoured for their Excellent Service

November 4, 2011 - Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) David Ramsay, presented the 2010 Parks Hospitality Award to Reid Lake Territorial Park operators Al and Mary Morton.

The Minister presented the award at the NWT Tourism Gala and Awards Dinner on Nov. 3. The Gala dinner was the closing event for the NWT Tourism Annual General Meeting and Conference held in Yellowknife Nov. 2 – 3.
