2010 Revenue Options Consultation Report Released

December 17, 2010 - The 2010 Revenue Options consultation report was released today.

This year’s discussion centered on two specific options: a carbon tax and a hotel tax. As in the previous roundtables, participants representing business, labour, non-profit, community and Aboriginal government organizations met to discuss the issues and made recommendations to the Minister of Finance, J. Michael Miltenberger.

Yellowknife Liquor Service Survey Results

December 15, 2010 - Results from the 2010 Yellowknife Liquor Service Survey indicate that most residents are satisfied with the convenience, selection and service of the liquor stores, but are dissatisfied with the prices.

The survey’s purpose was to assess satisfaction with the liquor service in Yellowknife based on convenience, selection, service and prices. Yellowknifers were asked for their opinions on the appropriate number and types of liquor stores for the city, and information was requested on their liquor purchases.

Exploring Alternative Energy Technologies

December 15, 2010 - A delegation from the NWT will be in Montreal December 15 - 16 to examine the feasibility of using hydrokinetic turbine and biogas technology to generate electricity and reduce the cost of living in the Northwest Territories.

Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod and Weledeh MLA Mr. Bob Bromley will learn more about emerging energy technologies that could potentially be applied in the Northwest Territories.
